Nothing but you can make you quit smoking. Being ready to make yourself stop is vital to your success. There are herbs that can assist you in your goal though. You can stop smoking with Lobelia, an herbal remedy.
When you first start the process, get a thick bodied flavorful smoke with Lobelia and mix it with a calming herb. When the physical aspect diminishes, do away with the change to a calming smoke with astringent herbs to get the heavy tobacco smoke. You are not going to get the herbal to taste like the tobacco. To help with breaking up all the crud in your lungs add Mullein and expectorants to the mix. Once you adjust to that mix, do away with astringents and use only Mullein. You will lose interests because Mullein is so light, you will not feel like you are smoking at all. This is merely an example that can be adjusted as needed. Other examples follow.
Use herbs to help you through the withdrawal symptoms. Some of them can be made like tea. Goldenseal and Oregon Grape Root will remove the nicotine from your body more quickly. The withdrawal will not get easier but you will get through it faster. To cure the headaches from withdrawal, use Oak or Willow. Parrot’s Beak, Valerian or Skullcap is excellent to use for calming.
After the physical habit disappears, the rest is up to you.
Several reasons to use Lobelia to quit smoking are: Control the amount used by smoking it, it is an effective sedative and muscle relaxer, boosts the immune system and acts as an expectorant. One important note though. Do not mix this herb with other sedatives or alcohol.
Lobelia contains lobeline, the chief ingredient in chewing gum that is used to stop smoking. The reason it works is that it is similar in form to nicotine. Receptors in the body lay in wait of nicotine, known as nicotine fits. Lobeline fits perfectly into these receptors making your body think that you have had a cigarette. When used right, lobeline is non habit forming. Only use it for a brief period of time.
Using too much Lobelia will cause you to throw up or possibly quit breathing all together. You will feel bad long before the later happens to you. It is relatively hard to reach that point. That is how potent the herb is. For drinking as a tea, for each half gallon of a water and herb mixture, use one teaspoon of Lobelia. When smoking it, take a pinch and add it to a bag of herbs. If you do start feeling sick, you have used too much.
Lobelia is what you want to quit smoking. The calming, alternative, expectorant, nicotine imitation makes it popular. Start off with a small pinch of Lobelia when creating the mix. If you are not satisfied, add a little more. If it is too potent, you will become lightheaded, dizzy and nauseous. Cigarettes do the same thing if you quit and start back up again.
